Meet the Team – Chloe

(from Mary:) As we embark on this Kickstarter journey together, we wanted to pull back the curtain and let you see the inner workings of The Simplifiers, meet the team and learn all about what we’re building.

So, today’s blog post I want you to meet my first hire for the UK team, Chloe Arji!

Hi guys, Chloe here!

You might have seen our previous blog post on using music to improve productivity…we spoke about the science behind it, explaining which types of music help which particular tasks.

But today we look at how we simplify our own lives… giving you some insight into my own personal life, including my productivity playlist music!

Marketing Associate

When did you join The Simplifiers team?

I participated in a summer marketing internship with Mary back in May 2015, when The Apprentice Program was in its early stages! I helped with writing content for the website, as well as making sure all the social media pages were kept up-to-date. In September, Mary hired me as a Marketing Associate for the team and I moved onto using WordPress to redesign the website, as well as tackling Google Analytics to track traffic through the page.

What do you love most about working with The Simplifiers?

I was keen to learn more about the various aspects of digital marketing and that’s exactly what working on The Apprentice Program has allowed me to do! I’ve had the opportunity to experience so many different parts of working in an elearning business, most exciting of all our Kickstarter campaign. It’s great to see a project that you’ve worked on for so long progress to the next level.

So you’re based in Nottingham, England…how cool! What’s your fave thing about working in the heart of Nottingham?

Definitely all the great food places nearby! There’s so many cafe’s/deli’s/shops nearby, we’ve even got a great little cafe called COB – Creative Occupations Bureau right below our offices – no matter what you fancy, there’ll be somewhere to satisfy your needs, all within walking distance.

If you could have a superhero power, what would it be?

This is such a hard question. I’ve watched so many X-men-type films so there’s lots of inspiration! My one superpower would probably be to have a photographic memory – not only being able to remember loads of information quickly (which would be useful for work,) but I could also make sure I win every single quiz show on TV.  BONUS.

What music do you listen to when you need to concentrate?

To be honest with you, I’m not a fan of classical or natural music. Though these are both great for some people, I find that listening to a genre of music I’m interested in is way better at keeping me motivated. I like tracks that are chilled out, but songs with words are a no-go as they can be a bit distracting!

I use Soundcloud as it means I can save all my favorite mixes and I don’t get distracted by trying to skip to the next song. This is great for when If I’m working with numbers and need full brain power to concentrate. One of my faves to listen to is the Gilles Peterson Worldwide radio show. He plays soul, hip hop, house, Afro, Latin, electronica, jazz and BEYOND, as well as featuring different people each week so is a great way to find out new artists!

Now you know a little bit more about one of The Simplifiers behind The Apprentice Program.

We are on a mission to STOP horrible internships.
