Build your tribe of trusted people you can count on

You’re a #girlboss.

We know it. But it’s ok to admit that you don’t know it all, because you don’t have to do it alone.

We all need our very own personal board of advisors.

You probably already have a great one of these for your personal life:

  • the friend who can tell you where to find the hottest new spot for brunch
  • the colleague who knows all of the latest tricks for how to get your baby in a good sleep routine
  • the aunt who gives you amazing cake recipes

But what about your professional life?

Who do you go to advice for when you’ve got a problem with team communication while juggling several weddings? Who’s got the best advice on dealing with an unreliable vendor? What if you have no idea where to start when teaching your interns about creating budgets?

Here are some of the types of people you need in your tribe… Read More

will you join us on our Kickstarter journey?

So, we’re running a Kickstarter in 2016…why?

We are on a mission to stop horrible internships.

We’ve all been there before…nervous, ill-prepared and your new boss has just thrown you to the wolves without any sort of training.

Or maybe you’ve been on the other side of the table…not sure if you’ve hired the right person, are they going to be an asset or slow you down? You’re moving ninety miles an hour and what in the world are you going to train them on?

This is a recipe for disaster and it’s happening in offices all over the world right now.

We want to put a stop to that.

So that’s why we built The Apprentice Program… Read More

The Apprentice Program by The Simplifiers – Tech Startup of the Year Awards 2015

Last night, I got to pitch The Apprentice Program by The Simplifiers to a room of 150 entrepreneurs and 5 judges as a finalist in the Tech Startup of the Year Awards in Nottingham.  Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled to take part in it all.

FINALIST – Tech Startup of the Year Awards 2015

It’s hard to believe that only a year ago, I attended Startup Weekend Nottingham(on a whim and a nudge), pitched it there and that’s where it all began.

momentum took over and…

My Journey as a Mentor in the Events Industry

By | CSEP, eLearning, ISES, mentoring, VIP Summer Class of 2015, working with interns | 2 Comments

mbwHello, my name is Mary Baird-Wilcock, CSEP, Founder and CEO of The Simplifiers.  For those whom I haven’t met yet, howdy, hi, lovely to meet you!  My journey as a mentor in the events industry has been nothing sort of an epic global adventure, truly.

You see, I launched The Simplifiers back in 2003, as a full-service event planning company, based in Austin, Texas…in my pajamas, in my home office, as you do.  Spinning off from my 7+ years of experience working in commercial radio, producing large-scale concerts and community events, I decided to follow the way of my entrepreneurial parents and start my own small business.

It was my dream, after all…

…planning events with passionate clients and amazing vendor partners who value my knack at staying super organized, always under budget and cultivating a collaborative, fun experience in the event design process.  Plus, I finally found a profession that truly APPRECIATED my attention to detail! (all the OCD gals in the crowd, holla!)
