Apprentice Case Study #8 – Jenny Du

It’s been awhile… but we’re BACK!  We’ve been busy bees, working with our clients this Fall, helping them train their teams with our superhero tools.

It’s time once again to shine the spotlight on one of our superstar past apprentices to see her insight of what she really gained from completing The Apprentice Program.

This week, we feature Jenny!

Jenny Du, Fall 2011 Apprentice

What is your name?

Jenny Du

What skills did you gain from The Apprentice Program?

Beyond the obvious skills you get working for any event planning firm—social media management, client and vendor interaction, and planning preparation—the most important skill I gained from The Apprentice Program is attention to detail. Mary is VERY diligent about ensuring even the most minutia of details are considered and addressed. This dedication to craft is what separates a good event planning firm from an exceptional one.

Did the The Apprentice Program unlock doors for your career and/or help you get a job?

The Apprentice Program was my first “resume-worthy” experience, and it gave me enough experience to accept a field marketing internship with ZICO Coconut Water the next summer.

Are you still in the events industry?  Where are you working now?

I am now an Analyst at an S&P 500 consumer food products company

Although I don’t work directly in the events industry, large corporations often times have a lot of social and professional committees, and the skills you learn through The Apprentice Program— vendor communication, time management, and resourcefulness—are extremely applicable in even a traditional office setting.

Favorite thing you loved about working weddings with The Simplifiers?

The bride will probably never remember your name or even have a chance to thank you, but knowing that you were there to make her day absolutely perfect is an amazing act of selflessness. That high is absolutely rewarding.

What Jenny is GREAT at:

Nothing could slow her down…no really, nothing.  She’s the type of dream teammate you hope for…someone who’s quick on their feet, willing to dive in and help, always smiling and always professional.  Jenny was an incredible asset to our events team and straight from day one, was always someone we could trust with a task to get it done EXACTLY how we hoped, at the quality level we’re known for.  Jenny is going places…we can’t wait to hear where she’ll be in five years from now!

What if your interns could also learn the importance of attention to detail?  You can teach them this super important skill with our expert training tools in The Apprentice Program!

Currently just $75/intern and the great thing is that you can start it at any time, giving your interns the knowledge they need to help you produce breathtaking weddings.

It’s not too late to signup for this semester!  Get your intern training sorted and reserve your spot on The Apprentice Program today!
